Jeni Sleigh is a Zambian-born artist and educator. Jeni’s work in pastels and ceramics explores the intersection of nature, human interaction, and the unexpected narratives that emerge from both. Her pastel series captures themes of adaptation and movement, from seagulls scavenging in Western Australia to transplanted flora thriving on distant continents. Through bold color and expressive composition, she seeks to evoke both curiosity and connection. In ceramics, her focus is on process-driven experimentation, particularly with raku and pit firing, where controlled unpredictability shapes each unique piece. Whether in pastel or clay, her work reflects an ongoing fascination with transformation—of landscapes, materials, and the ways in which nature and humanity continually influence one another.
